NONE Collective's 'Reality' Explores Human-Technology Relationship

NONE Collective, an interdisciplinary group founded in Rome in 2015 by Gregorio De Luca Comandini, Saverio Villirillo, and Mauro Pace, investigates the consequences of direct interactions between humans and new technologies. Their latest immersive video installation, 'Reality,' was presented at the 18th edition of Paratissima in Turin in 2022, within the Manica del Mosca space at Cavallerizza Reale. The installation consists of two large horizontal suspended structures under which viewers lie on cushions, experiencing a cascade of hypnotic retroprojected images, lights, and sounds. The work critiques obsessive smartphone use and the 'Instagrammable' nature of contemporary art, forcing viewers to confront their own habits. The collective's practice spans architecture, video, kinetic sculpture, and interaction design, often creating large environmental works that require physical participation, such as 'Intoccabili' (2021) conceived during the pandemic. They also organize 'Simposio,' a multidisciplinary meeting started in 2017 to build a network of creatives and intellectuals. The name 'NONE' alludes to Odysseus's response 'Nobody' to Polyphemus, transforming from 'Nobody' to 'Everyone together.'
