Nonada Gallery Opens Two Rio de Janeiro Spaces to Showcase Artists Outside the Mainstream Circuit
In November 2022, the Nonada gallery opened its doors in the neighborhoods of Copacabana and Penha in Rio de Janeiro. The gallery's first exhibition, which will be on display until March 4, showcases the work of 32 artists who explore issues such as racism, politics, and gender. The Copacabana location, known as Nonada ZS, emphasizes 'A palavra: prosa,' while the Penha site, Nonada ZN, features 'A palavra: verso.' Most participating artists hail from Rio or São Paulo, with notable exceptions like Guto Oca and Guilherme Almeida. Founded by Paulo Azeco, Luiz and Ludwig Danielian, and João Paulo Balsini, Nonada has future plans for a solo exhibition by Melissa Oliveira in March, works by Siwaju Lima, a collective show on sexuality in May, and solo exhibitions for Miguel Afa and André Barion later this year.
