Non me la racconti giusta: Urban art project in Italian prisons
In 2019, Collettivo FX and NemO's kicked off an urban art project called 'Non me la racconti giusta' at Sollicciano prison in Florence. This initiative is part of a larger effort that began in 2016 at Ariano Irpino prison and has also reached Sant'Angelo dei Lombardi and Rimini. Teaming up with Maria Caro from ziguline and photographer Antonio Sena, they worked in Sollicciano, which has been open since 1983 and covers 2.5 of its 15 hectares, reflecting Florence's lily emblem. On February 22, prison director Fabio Prestopino emphasized the importance of including marginalized inmates. The project encourages inmates to express themselves creatively, highlighting the often-ignored issues within Italy's prison system, despite facing administrative hurdles and skepticism.
