Nomad Art and Design Fair Debuts in Capri This Summer

The tenth edition of Nomad, the so-called 'non-fair' conceived as a private event for collectors and entrepreneurs, will take place from July 6 to 10, 2022, on the island of Capri. The fair will be hosted at the Certosa di Capri, a 14th-century monumental monastery with cloisters and gardens overlooking the Faraglioni rocks, steps from the famous Piazzetta. Founded by Giorgio Pace, a specialist in luxury brand communications for houses such as Bulgari and Louis Vuitton, and Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte, co-founder of Carwan Gallery in Beirut, Nomad aims to rethink the classical idea of fairs and exhibitions. Its nomadic nature sees each edition held in a different exclusive location: previous editions took place in 2017 at Villa La Vigie in Monaco (an early 20th-century villa once inhabited by Karl Lagerfeld), in 2018 at the 16th-century Chesa Planta in St. Moritz, and in 2019 at Palazzo Soranzo Van Axel in Venice. The fair distinguishes itself by the intimacy it offers visitors, creating unique dialogues between art, design, and architecture. For Capri, the dialogue will be enhanced by the ancient walls of the Certosa, whose construction began in 1371 by order of Count Giacomo Arcucci on land donated by Queen Joanna I of Anjou.
