Noir in Festival 2019: 29th Edition Program in Como and Milan

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

The 29th edition of Noir in Festival runs until December 12 in Como and Milan, directed by Giorgio Gosetti, Marina Fabbri, and Gianni Canova (IULM delegate). The festival's poster, by Lorenzo De Felici (colorist for Sergio Bonelli Editore and Walt Disney America), commemorates Batman's 80th anniversary, ahead of Matt Reeves' new film starring Robert Pattinson. In collaboration with the Archivio storico dell'Istituto Luce, 'Pillole a mano armata'—one-minute clips on robberies—precede competition films highlighting South American cinema's new wave and Swedish noir. Notable films include 'Araña' by Andrés Wood, 'Bacurau' by Kleber Mendonça Filho and Juliano Dornelles (joint jury prize at Cannes 2019), '4X4' by Mariano Cohn, and 'Dear Agnes' by Daniel Alfredson (final film of Håkan Nesser's Intrigo trilogy). Special events feature the premiere of crime series 'Stockholm Requiem' based on Kristina Ohlsson's trilogy. The Premio Caligari, conceived by Gianni Canova, includes '5 è il numero perfetto' by Igort and 'La Paranza dei Bambini' by Claudio Giovannesi (Silver Bear for best screenplay at Berlinale 2019). Out of competition, Marco Bellocchio's 'Il Traditore' receives an honorary degree from IULM University. On December 8 at Feltrinelli Piazza Duomo, Jonathan Lethem (author of 'Motherless Brooklyn,' adapted by Edward Norton) receives the Raymond Chandler Award and discusses his novel 'Il Detective Selvaggio' with Giancarlo De Cataldo.
