NOCTURNAL ECLIPSE: Other Forms of Return at Terreno Barrio Hotel, Palma
On August 6, the Terreno Barrio Hotel in Palma will host NOCTURNAL ECLIPSE: Other Forms of Return, an initiative by Galeria Reus featuring Claire O'Keefe, Miquel Ponce, and Julià Panadès. Running until September 19, the project references the solar eclipse of August 2026 to explore cycles, memory, and transformation. The exhibition is inspired by the Saros cycle, an astronomical pattern where eclipses recur every eighteen years, serving as a metaphor for return as continuous change. Works are displayed throughout the hotel, moving beyond the white cube to engage with architecture and daily life. Ponce's paintings reveal the materiality of gesture and process, while O'Keefe's photography and archival work delve into memory, the body, and the Mediterranean landscape. The opening includes a performance by Panadès titled 'Eclipsar lo càs,' incorporating sculpture, collage, photography, and video to address Mallorca's territory and environmental changes. The experience extends to the hotel's restaurant Destape, which offers a dish and cocktail inspired by the show, and concludes with a Midnight Sun Party DJ set by Jazzpunk B2B Alex Sobrón. Galeria Reus aims to push beyond conventional exhibition formats, fostering new relationships between artists, architecture, and audiences.
