noa* unveils Hub of Huts spa at Hotel Hubertus in Valdaora

The South Tyrolean architecture firm noa* network of architecture has completed Hub of Huts, a suspended spa complex for Hotel Hubertus in Valdaora, Val Pusteria, Alto Adige, finished in June 2022. The project, described as a 'complex of huts,' builds on the studio's earlier 2016 intervention—a cantilevered swimming pool that became an icon of the hotel. The new design features a horizontal structural platform at 15 meters height, supported by larch-clad pillars, from which two mirrored groups of micro-architectures extend upward and downward. The inverted roofs of the lower level serve practical functions for pool systems and sauna seating. The upper level houses changing rooms, two pools, and showers with mountain views; the lower level contains a foyer, saunas, and an open pool overlooking the valley. The huts are clad in brown aluminum echoing the mountain landscape, with interiors of beige ceramic and light oak. The team, equally composed of architects and interior designers, aimed to create a dreamlike, gravity-defying space that offers a new perspective on self and nature. Founders Lukas Rungger and Stefan Rier plan to open a third office in Milan soon.
