No Curves Reinterprets Old Masters with Tape at Milan's Ambrosiana

exhibition · 2026-05-13

From May 15 to June 16, 2026, the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan hosts 'EGO – Dal Nastro Adesivo ai Grandi Capolavori', a solo exhibition by street artist No Curves curated by Antonello Grimaldi in the Sala del Foro Romano. The show applies adhesive tape and geometric cuts to classical masterpieces, replacing faces with balaclavas to critique contemporary ego and digital overexposure. Renaissance figures are recast as urban characters: Leonardo da Vinci's Musician becomes a DJ, Moroni's portrait of Michel de l'Hospital a gentleman, and Caravaggio-inspired works explore value and memory. Napoleon is depicted as a common worker, and Giuseppina Negroni Prati Morosini as a modern female icon. Two new series debut: 'Maschere Silenziose' experiments with glass as a metaphor for invisible barriers, and 'Metamorfosi di Carta' uses magazine aesthetics to generate new identities. The exhibition bridges museum and street, using tape as a language to contemporize masterpieces without erasing their history.
