NIUNIA Studio's Aquamarine Microcement Apartment Rejects Minimalism in Kraków

NIUNIA Studio has transformed a 43-square-meter apartment in Kraków, named Serce Miłości, into a vivid, color-blocked environment using a saturated aquamarine microcement envelope. The design rejects typical space-expanding minimalism, instead embedding a concealed fold-away bed system and custom cabinetry into the architectural perimeter to achieve high-density functionality without sacrificing aesthetic identity. Adjustable area lighting shifts between 2700K and 4000K to engineer a natural skylight effect. The continuous microcement foundation subverts pale flooring conventions, using tone shifts and vertical elements to delineate zones. Custom cabinetry integrates technical access panels, concealed doors, and a 160×200 cm fold-away bed. Burl wood veneer and red travertine countertops anchor the kitchen, while contrasting green marble and brushed metals add layered material relationships. The entrance features monochromatic ultramarine tones with a specialized lighting system. The bathroom uses ceramic tiles in custom compositions. Reflective surfaces and mirrors multiply natural light and stretch sightlines. This project is part of a local shift toward bold, high-concept residential design in Kraków, evidenced by nearby interiors like Mistovia's HFL Karcza apartment and the Butterfly Studio apartment.
