Nintendo Announces Super Mario Bros. Wonder After 10-Year Hiatus
Nintendo has announced Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the first new 2D side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. game since New Super Mario Bros. U (2012) and the first traditional 2D Mario since Super Mario 3D World (2013). Revealed during a Nintendo Direct broadcast, the game introduces "Wonder Flowers" that transform levels in unexpected ways, such as animating pipes, spawning enemy hordes, or making characters grow tall. A new power-up turns Mario into an elephant. The game supports multiplayer with various characters. Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be released on Nintendo Switch on October 20, 2023.
