Nino Migliori's Portraits of Artists at Reggia di Colorno

The Reggia di Colorno in Parma presents 86 works by Nino Migliori (b. 1926, Bologna) in an exhibition curated by Sandro Parmiggiani. The show focuses on Migliori's portraits of artists and cultural figures, organized into five sections corresponding to different techniques. The first section features traditional black-and-white portraits from the 1950s to 2011, including subjects such as Tancredi, Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg, and Vasco Bendini. Migliori notes that these portraits were a way to approach people, often leading to friendships, as with Emilio Vedova and Tancredi, who hosted him in Venice. A room is dedicated to 'matchlight portraits' from 2006 onward, using flame as a light source to create mysterious images; subjects include Mario Botta, Elisabetta Sgarbi, and Sissi. Another section explores television-screen photography from the 1970s, capturing sequential images of figures like Indro Montanelli and Dario Fo. The 'Elaborazioni' and 'Ritratti ritagliati' series involve cutting and rearranging photographs, as seen in portraits of Emilio Tadini and Lucio Saffaro, or using a giant kaleidoscope for multi-perspective portraits. The 'Trasfigurazioni' series manipulates Polaroid layers to create painterly effects, featuring Fausto Melotti, Emilio Vedova, Bruno Munari, Marisa Merz, and Omar Galliani.
