Nino Migliori's first photography show at M77 spans three series over 30 years
Galleria M77 in Milan presents its first photography exhibition since opening in 2014, dedicated to Nino Migliori (b. 1926, Bologna) and curated by Michele Buonuomo. The show highlights three distinct series spanning thirty years: the neo-realist Gente del Sud and Gente dell'Emilia from the 1950s, the conceptual Muri series, and the experimental Pirogrammi and Cliché-verres. Migliori began photographing in 1948 after WWII, using the medium to reclaim everyday life. The Muri series, placed at the exhibition's entrance, marks a shift from narrative to conceptual photography. The Pirogrammi and Cliché-verres, displayed upstairs, exemplify his radical experimentation. Migliori asserts that photography is always an interpretation, not mere description. The show includes a contact print of his famous Tuffatore in negative, proving no digital manipulation. He cites Caravaggio's light as an influence for his ongoing matchlight portraits. Migliori continues to work on educational projects at Mast in Bologna and maintains multiple concurrent series.
