Nino Mier Gallery Opens Third Los Angeles Space Ahead of Frieze
Nino Mier Gallery has launched its third venue at 7277 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, occupying a nearly 500-square-meter former showroom adorned with ivy. This new gallery joins its existing locations in Cologne and two in Hollywood, coinciding with a surge of gallery openings in Los Angeles ahead of the first Frieze Los Angeles fair, set for February 14–17, 2019, at Paramount Pictures Studios. The event will showcase 69 galleries, including notable names such as David Zwirner, Gagosian, and Hauser & Wirth. Bettina Korek, the founder of ForYourArt, has been appointed as the director of Frieze Los Angeles. The inaugural exhibition at the new Nino Mier space features Celeste Dupuy-Spencer. Additionally, San Francisco is allocating $50 million for a public art park on Treasure Island and Yerba Buena Hilltop Park, with artists like Ai Weiwei and Andy Goldsworthy vying for commissions.
