Nina Fischer & Maroan el Sani's 'Dynamis' Video Showcases Greek Resilience in Rome Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-20

From March 11 to May 6, 2017, Nina Fischer & Maroan el Sani showcased their fourth solo exhibition at Marie-Laure Fleisch in Rome, featuring the HD video 'Dynamis' (2014). This 22-minute piece, commissioned by the Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki, captures a performance in Thessaloniki, Greece, where volunteers engage in balancing eggs on various surfaces. The video illustrates different strategies, emphasizing resilience during economic difficulties. Additionally, an interactive floor installation called 'Untitled' (2017) invited attendees to try egg-balancing themselves. Amid structural weaknesses and pressures from the EU, Thessaloniki's economic challenges are mirrored in the video, which coincided with Documenta 14 in Athens, highlighting Greece's debt crisis.
