Nina Canell's Pneus Installation at Progetto in Lecce

Nina Canell (born 1979 in Vaxjo) presents a shared exhibition with Robin Watkins and K. Verlag at Progetto, a contemporary art space recently opened by American artist Jamie Sneider in a historic building in Lecce's old town. The show features Canell's installation 'Pneus', consisting of spherical ceramic fragments that explore organic potentials of the material, alongside 'Dreg', a small plastic wall sculpture dense with fractures and voids. In the first room, an artist's book created with Watkins and curator-publisher Anna-Sophie Springer is integrated into a dense library-installation. The final room, overlooking a secret garden, dissolves matter into water and multisounds, becoming pure aerial state. Progetto hosts artists in an apartment, allowing them to create works in close contact with local craftsmanship, fostering dialogue between international names and the regional context. The space fills a gap in Puglia's art system, which lacks a professional infrastructure.
