Nilufar Gallery Expands with Brazilian Design and London Squat Project

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Nilufar, the historic Milanese gallery directed by Nina Yashar, presents three initiatives during Salone del Mobile. At its via della Spiga location, Brazilian design takes center stage with vintage pieces by six architects and designers, born or adopted in Brazil, created between 1940 and 1970. The works, mostly in plywood, reveal a lesser-known, versatile narrative closer to European sensibility. At Nilufar Depot in viale Lancetti, a spectacular succession of furnished curtains becomes an installation, mixing vintage pieces, including Gio Ponti, with recent productions by younger designers such as Peri, Faccin, and Gamper. Additionally, for the fifth edition of Squat—a project founded by Yashar to transcend gallery boundaries by placing her collection in itinerant residences—Nilufar debuts in London in collaboration with Shalini Misra Ltd. The next private space to be reinterpreted, opening June 6, is a 230-square-meter apartment in Mayfair, where the design will play off architectural peculiarities and incorporate contemporary art.
