Nilufar Depot Celebrates 10 Years in Milan with Book and Performance

publication · 2026-04-26

Nilufar Depot in Milan marks its tenth anniversary with a book titled 'Nilufar Depot, The First Decade' and a performance by Martino Gamper. The 1,500-square-meter space, designed by architect Massimiliano Locatelli in a former silverware factory, opened on April 13, 2015. Originally intended as a storage for gallerist Nina Yashar's collection, it became a pilgrimage site for design enthusiasts, especially during Fuorisalone. Over the years, the Depot hosted exhibitions like 'Lina Bo Bardi – Giancarlo Palanti, Studio d’Arte Palma' (2018), 'Silver Lining' (2024) with Fosbury Architecture, and 'Poikilos' by Objects of Common Interest (2023). For the anniversary, Yashar invited Gamper to deconstruct mid-century furniture, including Ico Parisi's Positano headboards and Franco Albini and Franca Helg's LT29 bed, reassembling them into new works. Yashar also launched Nilufar Editions, a line of contract furniture involving designers Andrea Mancuso, Filippo Carandini, Lucia Ippolito, and David/Nicolas. Yashar began her career in 1979 with a space on Via Bigli, influenced by her Iranian heritage.
