exhibition · 2026-04-20

Nile Harris's performance piece, 'this house is not a home,' is set to premiere at the McGuire Theater within the Walker Art Center from January 22 to 24, 2026, as part of the Out There series. This work, which was initially co-produced by Ping Chong and Company alongside Abrons Arts Center, was showcased at the 2023 Under the Radar Festival. In collaboration with Crackhead Barney and Malcolm-x Betts, Harris delves into themes of race, capital, and sociopolitical issues, with 40% of each performance being improvised based on current news. The piece addresses the systemic obstacles encountered by Black individuals and features a sound-responsive bounce castle, inspired by the protests following George Floyd's death. Additionally, Harris is working on an adaptation of 'Huckleberry Finn' with Kate Valk and the Wooster Group.
