Nikita Kadan and Anastasia Potemkina Debut at Laura Bulian Gallery
Nikita Kadan (Kyiv, 1982) and Anastasia Potemkina (Moscow, 1984) present their first joint exhibition at Laura Bulian Gallery in Milan, drawing on the myth of Attis. The show explores metamorphosis of human into vegetal, the disintegration and reconstitution of matter, and political reflections on nature and humanity. Works include watercolors of male organs transforming into plants or fungi, collages with plants applied to photographs of ruins from the Donbass war in eastern Ukraine, a kimono imitating organic matter, and stones in constant becoming associated with living beings. Kadan and Potemkina assemble and reassemble parts of myth, nature, history, and social, political, and emotional orders.
