Nike enlists Virgil Abloh and Kim Jones for World Cup capsule collections
Nike commissioned Virgil Abloh and Kim Jones to create capsule collections for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. Abloh's 'Football, Mon Amour' includes the Mercurial Vapor boot with two dots marking the striking zone, plus Flyknit Zoom Fly sneakers and goalkeeper gloves. Jones's 'Football Reimagined' features black garments inspired by punk DIY ethos and a hybrid sneaker combining elements of the Mercurial, Footscape, Vandal, and Air Max 97. Both designers are friends and have recently changed roles: Jones left Louis Vuitton men's to join Dior Homme, while Abloh succeeded him at Louis Vuitton. The collections launched ahead of the World Cup opening on June 14 and Paris Fashion Week.
