NIKA Project Space Opens Group Exhibition on Expanded Bodies
NIKA Project Space in Al Khayat Avenue presents its fourth exhibition, 'I Can No Longer Produce the Limits of My Own Body,' curated by Nadine Khalil and running from 15 November 2023 to 7 January 2024. The group show features seven artists—Liane Al Ghusain, Mirna Bamieh, Isaac Sullivan, Dalia Khalife, Sara Niroobakhsh, Lilia Ziamou, and Christiane Peschek—who explore the body as an expanded site and medium. Works probe anatomical, animal, material, and technological aspects of embodiment. Mirna Bamieh presents 'Sour Things: The Kitchen,' a multimedia installation originally commissioned for Sharjah Biennial 15 (February-June 2023), produced in collaboration with Isaac Sullivan. Sara Niroobakhsh shares 'The Tabalvour' (2020), a performance-video using crystallization to reference her mother's cancer journey. Lilia Ziamou presents new bone-inspired sculptures combining 3D printing with classical techniques. Dalia Khalife performs with life-size digital avatars, exploring sweat as a political condition. Liane Al Ghusain's 'Womb Amulets' comprises 29 stitched pink stoneware pieces for Palestinian women prisoners. Christiane Peschek creates immersive installations evoking digital consciousness. Founder Veronika Berezina emphasizes the gallery's mission to amplify Global South voices.
