Niiiz Design Lab's Salte Library Bukchon merges scent, literature, and spatial design

Niiiz Design Lab has completed Salte Library Bukchon in Seoul, a retail space for Korean fragrance brand Solte Library that integrates fragrance, literature, and interior architecture into a unified sensory experience. The design is organized around the concept of 'NOTE,' referencing both perfume composition and writing, with five interconnected zones that unfold like narrative chapters. A restrained exterior contrasts with an immersive interior featuring a sculptural installation referencing salt and books. A tunnel-like corridor displays handwritten impressions by Korean writers alongside fragrances, while visitors can leave their own reflections on memo cards that double as fragrance blotters. The main display area centers on a transparent circular fixture inspired by an open book, housing about fifty fragrance products. Additional areas include a service counter for international visitors and a curated reading zone. The project reflects South Korea's cultural industry expansion, where fragrance brands like Solte Library collaborate with writers to embed storytelling into product design.
