NII Presents Ingenious Design Workspace Vision

architecture-design · 2026-04-28

Japanese firm NII, a subsidiary of ITOKI Corporation (founded 1890, over 130 years in furniture and workspace design), has unveiled its contemporary workspace vision. Under creative director Hirotaka Tako, NII's 'Ingenious Design' approach treats furniture as a catalyst for communication, collaboration, and imagination. The launch features pieces by AMDL CIRCLE, Todd Bracher, Rodolfo Agrella, and Jun Aizaki / CRÈME, with new collaborations including Industrial Facility planned for 2026. Highlighted is BITMAP by Todd Bracher, a system of two connected rectangular volumes where a secondary block serves as side table, armrest, or extra seat. Its seemingly unstable geometry creates lightness and suspension. BITMAP allows multiple configurations—parallel, face-to-face, diagonal—encouraging interaction and exploration, eliminating traditional furniture rigidity for an intuitive, playful, adaptable relationship with space.
