NID Platform 2023: A Mixed Diagnosis for Italian Dance
Cagliari recently hosted the seventh annual NID Platform, running from August 30 to September 2, 2023, with the theme "Fluidity. Space, body, movement." The event, organized by Associazione Enti Locali for Cultural Activities and Ce.D.A.C., showcased 17 performances alongside Open Studios, three discussion panels, and 19 information desks. An artistic panel waded through 170 entries submitted by 440 professionals. Notable presentations included "Brave" by Paola Bianchi and Valentina Bravetti, "Nobody, Nobody, Nobody. It’s Ok Not To Be Ok" by Daniele Ninarello, and "Shoes On" by Luna Cenere. Critic Laura Bevione noted a decrease in politically charged and experimental works in contemporary Italian dance.
