Nicolas Bouchaud and Éric Didry Stage Serge Daney's Final Interview in 'La Loi du marcheur'

At Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris, from November 29 to December 31, 2011, Nicolas Bouchaud and Éric Didry present 'La Loi du marcheur', a theatrical adaptation of Serge Daney's 1992 interviews with Régis Debray for the Arte program 'Océaniques'. Daney, a renowned film critic for Cahiers du cinéma and Libération and founder of Trafic, spoke candidly about his life and cinema while dying of AIDS. Bouchaud, known for his electric stage presence reminiscent of Sid Vicious and Joe Strummer, performs Daney's words without mimicry, allowing the text to emerge live. Didry, a specialist in oral archaeology, previously adapted Christian Boltanski's radio interview for the stage. The production strips away Debray's questions, focusing solely on Daney's voice as he recounts his youth, his first trip to Hollywood in 1964 with Louis Skorecki, and his enduring love for Howard Hawks' 'Rio Bravo', which serves as a visual backdrop. The show is part of the Festival d'Automne and will tour in early 2012.
