Nicola Lagioia Steps Down as Director of Turin Book Fair, New Call for Applications Issued
Nicola Lagioia, director of the Salone Internazionale del Libro di Torino since 2016, has announced he will not seek reappointment for the 2024-2026 term, confirming a decision made over a year ago. The Fondazione Circolo dei lettori has published a call for expressions of interest for a new director, with applications due by December 7, 2022. The selected candidate will lead the fair from 2024 to 2026, with a possible two-year extension, and will receive an annual fee of €120,000 plus €10,000 in expenses. The director will work alongside editorial consultants for the 2023 edition (May 18-22 at Lingotto Fiere), still under Lagioia's direction. Lagioia, credited with saving the fair from judicial troubles and revitalizing it, stated that turnover is healthy. The selection committee includes Giulio Biino, Marco Pautasso, Vittoria Poggio, Rosanna Purchia, Silvio Viale, Piero Crocenzi, and Francesca Mancini, who will appoint the new director by end of December 2022.
