Nicola Kuperus of ADULT. on Art, Music, and the Absurd
In an interview with Artribune, Nicola Kuperus, one half of the electronic duo ADULT., shares her thoughts on music and art. Established in 1998 in Detroit alongside Adam Lee Miller, she characterizes art as "a multitude of shit" and music as a source of "nourishment and catharsis." Among her artistic influences are Mike Kelley's "Day is Done," as well as works by Paul McCarthy, Bruce Nauman, and Tony Oursler. Kuperus enjoys tracks like "DTM" by Alan Vega and "La Llorona" by Chavela Vargas. ADULT. has just wrapped up their ninth studio album, following "Perception is/as/of Deception," both released under DAIS Records. Kuperus oversees the artwork for all their projects, while Miller has a background in painting. The duo has toured globally and remixed for various artists.
