Nicola Genco's Angelic Installation at Monte Sant'Angelo Castle

Nicola Genco, a native of Putignano born in 1959, has unveiled a site-specific installation at Monte Sant'Angelo Castle in Foggia, Italy. This immersive experience encourages visitors to engage with various traces, signs, images, and materials throughout the castle, intertwining symbol, narrative, and allegory. Leveraging his expertise as a carnival float creator, Genco captures the essence of a historically significant region. The angel motif represents themes of rebirth, pilgrimage, and the convergence of territory, faith, history, and architecture. This exhibition is a sequel to a previous display at Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, supported by partnerships among the Apulia Region, the municipality of Monte Sant'Angelo, and other entities. Curated by Brizia Minerva, Rosalinda Romanelli, and Mariastella Margozzi, it features a papier-mâché child's body, encouraging modern reflections. The piece was authored by Lorenzo Madaro.
