Nico Vascellari's IONOI brings performances to 20 Italian homes
Italian artist Nico Vascellari launches IONOI, a project featuring 20 performances in 20 homes across 20 Italian regions from March 26 to April 14, 2021. Accompanied by his band Ninos du Brasil, Vascellari will perform daily in a different private residence, creating intimate experiences that blur the line between artist and audience. The performances will be live-streamed on Codalunga's YouTube channel and promoted via Instagram. The project culminates in a documentary directed by Vascellari, co-produced by The Apartment (a Fremantle group company) and Codalunga. IONOI evolved from earlier works such as Nico & The Vascellaris, Cuckoo, and Lago Morto. During the first lockdown in 2020, Vascellari performed "Do you trust me?", a 24-hour live stream where he repeated "I trusted you" over an electronic beat. IONOI aims to transform homes into theaters, museums, and clubs, questioning what normalcy means after a year of closures.
