Nico Angiuli's The Human Tools at Cittadellarte and Museo Castromediano

artist · 2026-05-04

Nico Angiuli, born in Bari in 1981, showcases his video installation titled The Human Tools at Cittadellarte in Biella. This project, co-produced with Museo Castromediano di Lecce through funding from the Italian Council, has been in development since 2017. It weaves together concepts from The Tools Dance (2017) and a residency in apple orchards in South Tyrol in 2018. The installation explores various tensions related to economics, technology, biopolitics, and gender through the perspectives of eleven characters discussing robots. Directed by Juan Sandoval, it features performers from Piedmont and Lombardy, including Luca Antonello and Kastriot Shehi, with costume contributions from Augusta Tibaldeschi and Roberta Vacchetta. The Human Tools will be displayed at Museo Castromediano from June 22 to September, coinciding with plans for a gondola service in Porto Marghera.
