Nico Angiuli's performance 'Le Mura di Rozafa' at Donnapaola Arts Farm

On August 21, 2022, at 6:30 PM, curator Marco Scotini presents Nico Angiuli's new performance 'Le Mura di Rozafa' at Donnapaola Arts Farm in the Murgia region of Puglia. This is the third and final phase of a research project on dwelling, agricultural self-sustainability, and environmental resources. The first phase was the international conference 'Ecologie del margine' in late June, followed by 'Interchange', a dual residency project between Italy and Romania involving students from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bari. The performance, created with young artist Michela Rondinone, involves the audience lying down at sunset to form a human line merging with the landscape. It references the Albanian legend of Rozafa, a woman walled alive in a castle, and highlights the presence of Albanian stonemasons who built the dry-stone walls characteristic of the region. Donnapaola Arts Farm, founded by engineer Vito Labarile with artistic direction by Antonella Marino, aims to create a long-term platform for ecological art, residencies, and botanical, zoological, mineral, and anthropological archives. Scotini emphasizes overcoming modernist dualisms and promoting intersectional knowledge.
