Nicholas Zervoglos and Carola Sapper Revive Edwardian House in Oxford with Italian Design

Architect Nicholas Zervoglos and designer Carola Sapper have transformed a 1906 Edwardian house in Oxford, once declared uninhabitable, into a light-filled family home. The renovation respects the original architecture while adapting spaces for contemporary living. The ground floor was expanded to create an open social area with a curved glass facade and a skylight that floods the interior with natural light. A new bedroom was added on the roof, utilizing the existing roof structure. Sapper chose warm, functional, and timeless interiors where Italian design coexists with daily life, using noble materials and Molteni&C furniture. The kitchen, dining, and living areas form a continuous space defined by an open shelving unit that maintains visual openness. The walnut kitchen blends with the surroundings, while the living room features iconic pieces like the Monk armchair. Lamps, furniture, and accessories designed by Richard Sapper add character throughout. The master suite serves as a tranquil retreat, culminating a project where contemporary design and historical architecture coexist naturally. This project was featured in Glocal Design Magazine's 89th edition, 'Visionarias del espacio', which gathers 15 female architects and interior designers expanding the conversation on architecture, design, and interiorism in Mexico.
