NFT Platform Tropix Drives Digital Art Integration at SP-Arte 2026

festival-fair · 2026-04-23

The 18th edition of SP-Arte, held from April 6 to 10, 2026, saw the digital art platform Tropix as a central force in integrating NFTs into the Brazilian market. Tropix's booth, curated by Marcio Harum, featured 35 works by 20 artists from 12 partner galleries, including Gretta Sarfaty and PV Dias. A highlight was the 3D hologram launch of Thiago Martins de Melo's "Anunciação (Amazônia Mega Drive)." The platform, founded less than a year ago by entrepreneur Daniel Peres Chor and now advised by former MAM Rio director Fabio Szwarcwald, focuses on collaborating with established galleries like Jaqueline Martins, Verve, Leme, Millan, and Zipper, while also evaluating independent artists. Tropix facilitated the first NFT acquisition by a Brazilian museum, donating Gustavo von Ha's "Von Britney" to MAC-USP last month. Szwarcwald emphasized that blockchain technology solves historical preservation issues for digital art, citing pioneers like Bill Viola and Janet Cardiff. He announced Tropix's development of "OffPix," an app to certify physical artworks via NFT, and plans for a metaverse gallery. Concurrently, galleries like Kogan Amaro, with director Ricardo Rinaldi, launched their own digital initiatives, using platforms like Foundation and displaying NFTs on LED panels at SP-Arte, while accepting both cryptocurrency and cash payments.
