Nexo Digital Brings David Hockney Docufilm to Italian Cinemas

Nexo Digital launches a new season of 'La Grande Arte al Cinema' in Italian theaters starting January 2018, following a previous season that attracted over 400,000 viewers. The opening event on January 30 and 31 is a docufilm about David Hockney from the Royal Academy of Arts. The film covers two site-specific exhibitions Hockney created for the Royal Academy over the past five years. Hockney, a Royal Academy member since 1991 and a key figure in British pop art, is interviewed by Tim Marlow, Artistic Director of the Royal Academy. The film includes insights from art critics Martin Gayford and Jonathan Jones, and Edith Devaney, Senior Contemporary Curator at the Royal Academy, who posed for Hockney. Hockney discusses his first trip abroad to Egypt in 1963, the death of friend Jonathan Silver, and his recent use of iPad for drawings and videos. The season continues with films on Caravaggio (February 19-21), Hitler vs. Picasso (March 13-14), van Gogh (April 9-11), and Cézanne (May 8-9).
