Newhouse Collection Valued at $450M Heads to Christie's
Christie's will auction 16 artworks from the collection of the late S.I. Newhouse Jr., the Condé Nast and Advance Publications magnate, on May 18 in an evening sale expected to exceed $450 million. Highlights include Jackson Pollock's 1948 drip painting "Number 7A" (estimated at $100 million) and Constantin Brancusi's bronze and gold leaf "Danaïde" from 1913. Tobias Meyer, former Sotheby's auctioneer who advised the collection since 1998, now represents the estate.
