Newfields Opens 'Rise Through Everything' Featuring Black Artists on Paper

Newfields, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, is opening a new exhibition titled 'Rise Through Everything: Geometry, Rhythm, and Gesture' that showcases contemporary works on paper by Black artists. Curated by Anna Stein, Associate Curator of Works on Paper, the exhibition brings together 16 prints, photographs, drawings, and collages. Featured artists include Yashua Klos, Derrick Adams, and Ayana Jackson. The show highlights ten new acquisitions to the museum's collection, reflecting the institution's curatorial direction. Stein expressed enthusiasm about the debut of these works, noting that they showcase the experiences and stories Newfields aims to craft. The exhibition places emerging voices alongside established masters, fostering a dialogue across generations. The show is currently on view at Newfields.
