New York's Must-See Exhibitions for Holiday Visitors

Despite the pandemic, New York museums and galleries remain open for holiday visitors. The Whitney Museum presents two major shows: 'Jasper Johns: Mind/Mirror' (until Feb 13, 2022), a dual-venue retrospective with the Philadelphia Museum of Art spanning the artist's six-decade career, and 'Jennifer Packer: The Eye Is Not Satisfied With Seeing' (until Apr 17, 2022), the artist's first New York survey featuring over 30 works. At the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 'Surrealism Beyond Borders' (until Jan 30, 2022) recontextualizes Surrealism as a global movement across 45 countries, traveling to Tate London next year. The International Center of Photography hosts two photography exhibitions: Gillian Laub's 'Family Matters' and Diana Markosian's 'Santa Barbara' (both until Jan 10, 2022), exploring personal and social narratives. At Philippe Labaune Gallery, Italian artist Lorenzo Mattotti presents 'Stanze Intime' (until Jan 15, 2022), his first US solo show, featuring paintings and drawings from 2021.
