New York's Dining Scene Welcomes Eight Design-Driven Restaurants

Galerie Magazine highlights eight recent restaurant openings in New York City that combine culinary excellence with distinctive design. In TriBeCa, Musaafer offers Indian fine dining inspired by Chef Mayank Istwal's 100-day journey across India's 29 states, featuring hand-painted wall panels and lotus chandeliers. Comal on the Lower East Side channels Mexico City's flavors with interiors by Elena Martinoni and La Metropolitana. Oyatte, from French Laundry and Atomix alumnus Chef Hasung Lee, presents an eight-course tasting menu rooted in seasonality, with interiors evoking a chef's home on a small farm. Golden Steer in Greenwich Village blends midcentury Vegas glamour with Western iconography, designed by Modellus Novus. Marcel at the Breuer Building, a partnership between Roman and Williams and Sotheby's, offers continental classics in a midcentury setting with Bauhaus stools and original Breuer lamps. Zoli in East Williamsburg features a menu by Chef Ned Baldwin inspired by local everyday food, alongside a Pierre Huyghe aquarium installation and a gallery space. Giulietta at 5th and Vanderbilt draws from the Italian coast with murals by Kimmy Quillin and ceramics by Claypond Studios. At 550 Madison, Simon Kim's Gracious Hospitality Management opens three concepts—Cote 550, Bar Chimera, and Sushi Yoshitake—designed by Rockwell Group.
