New York auctions feature abundant painting, with de Kooning and Richter as top lots

From November 14 to 18, New York will host auctions that are expected to reflect the current state of the art market following recent changes in the U.S. political scene, showcasing significant American and European artworks. Sotheby's, Christie's, and Phillips will hold a series of sequential sales. Among Christie's featured pieces are works by Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Rauschenberg, and Willem de Kooning's Untitled XXV (1977), valued at approximately $40 million. Sotheby's will present the collection of the late financier Steven Ames, estimated to be worth around $100 million, including pieces by Gerhard Richter and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Phillips will offer Gerhard Richter's 1963 artwork (valued at $25-35 million) and David Hockney's The Gate (2000) ($6-8 million), while Christie's will include Alberto Burri's Rosso Combustione Plastica (1957) ($3-4 million).
