New Museum Dedicated to Printing Opens in Lecce

On June 20, 2020, Lecce, Italy, welcomed the Fabbrica delle Parole, a museum focused on the art of printing. This initiative was backed by Regione Puglia, the Province of Lecce, and the Polo biblio museale di Lecce. The museum showcases a range of historical printing equipment, including ancient presses, early computing devices, and tools that illustrate the development of typography. Notable exhibits include a Messapic inscription, hand presses from the 19th and 20th centuries, mimeograph machines, and a 1976 Apple I. It also features cultural journals like "L'Albero" and "L'esperienza poetica." Curated by Brizia Minerva, Sara Saracino, and Anna Lucia Tempesta, the museum hosts engaging workshops and events, with Luigi De Luca highlighting a commitment to intergenerational communication.
