New monograph series 'Fuori dall'ombra' spotlights 20th-century women architects

Independent publisher marinonibooks, founded in Pavia in 2020 by an illustrator, has launched a new monograph series titled 'Fuori dall'ombra' dedicated to pioneering women architects and designers of the 20th century. The series opens with 'Charlotte Perriand. Una biografia illustrata', featuring text by curators Gisella Bassanini and Giovanna Canzi and illustrations by Emi Ligabue (born Mantua, 1957). The book opens with Perriand, at age 24, entering Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret's Paris atelier at 35 rue de Sèvres. A postface by Adele Cassina highlights Perriand's 'personalissima gentilezza' and humility. Bassanini describes the series as both a tribute to these pioneers' skill, creativity, and determination, and an invitation to learn their unconventional stories. Each volume will be illustrated by a different artist. The next volume will feature Irish-born, French-adopted architect and designer Eileen Gray, with the illustrator to be announced. Ligabue's artistic research focuses on everyday objects; her work has been exhibited at venues including the Triennale di Milano.
