New Lighting Reveals Bramante's Hidden Gems at Santa Maria presso San Satiro
A new lighting project at the Basilica of Santa Maria presso San Satiro in Milan, designed by Artemide in collaboration with Fondazione Banca del Monte di Lombardia, now illuminates the Sacello with Agostino De Fondulis's terracotta Pietà group and the Battistero, originally a sacristy by Donato Bramante. The basilica is famous for Bramante's illusionistic perspective that compensates for limited space due to the medieval Via Falcone. The LED lighting system is diffuse yet discreet, enhancing the experience for over 180,000 annual visitors. The project aims to reveal the full magnificence of these Renaissance masterpieces, studied by art history students worldwide.
