New Large Art Center on Île Seguin Opens with Renault-Themed Inaugural Exhibition
The Large contemporary art center on Île Seguin in Boulogne-Billancourt, designed by Catalan firm RCR Arquitectes, will open to the public on October 17, 2025. The 53,000 m² complex also includes an eight-screen Pathé cinema, a hotel, restaurants, and offices. The inaugural exhibition, curated by Cecilia Alemani, explores the myth of the automobile with 55 contemporary artists, including works by Julio Le Parc, Nina Beier, Thomas Bayrle, Mohamed El Khatib, and Giulia Andreani. The project is backed by developer Emerige, whose president Laurent Dumas emphasized support for the French art scene. The site, formerly Renault factories (1929–1992) employing up to 30,000 workers, inspired the exhibition. Mayor Pierre-Christophe Baguet expects two million visitors to the island, shared with the Seine Musicale, a new sculpture park, and the cinema. Access will improve with the Pont de Sèvres station in spring 2027 and a potential Line 12 extension to an Île Seguin station.
