New Galleries and Art Spaces in Rome's San Lorenzo District

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The San Lorenzo district in Rome is buzzing with new contemporary art spots popping up everywhere. A key highlight is Galleria delle Arti at Via dei Sabelli 2, which has just reopened with Cecilia Bellini's exhibition "Stratificazioni," curated by Tommaso Zijno, running until March 14, 2025. This show focuses on how emotions are layered. Meanwhile, at Palazzo Sartorio, Paolo William Tamburella has been living in the studio of 19th-century sculptor Giuseppe Maria Sartorio since 2009, and in June 2024, he welcomed fellow artists Emiliano Maggi, Davide Quayola, Cyril De Commarque, Tommaso Fagioli, and Costanza Chia. Additionally, Monti8 from Latina debuted a new space at Via dei Reti 1/A in October 2024, featuring "Reverse Universe" by Kiwha Lee, curated by Lorenzo Madaro. The research group Numero Cromatico moved to Via dei Volsci 165 after years at Pastificio Cerere. Lastly, Ombrelloni Art Space, which opened in 2022 at Via del Lucani 18, showcases exhibitions like the traveling OOR – Out Of Residency and supports artists like Krizia Galfo and the performance group WOW – Incendi Spontanei.
