New Fair Grand Art Launches in Milan This November

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

A new art fair, Grand Art. Modern & Contemporary Fine Art Fair, will debut in Milan from November 9 to 12, 2017, at The Mall (piazza Lina Bo Bardi), the same venue as Mia Photo Fair. The fair focuses on modern and contemporary art rooted in painting, sculpture, and applied arts, emphasizing aesthetic research, material poetics, and tradition. It aims to complement existing Milanese fairs by showcasing galleries that promote artists whose practice looks to art history. Promoted by Ente Fiera Promoberg and Media Consulter, in collaboration with ANGAMC, the fair's scientific committee includes journalists and critics Bianca Cerrina Feroni and Angelo Crespi, curator Martina Mazzotta, and art historian Stefano Zuffi. A collateral exhibition will honor the Officina Milanese movement. Angelo Crespi noted that the fair will highlight artists working within tradition, citing Giancarlo Vitali (age 87), who was forgotten for 50 years despite his significance, as an example of how tradition-based painting can address contemporaneity.
