New Conservatory Campus to Replace Milan's 'Drug Grove' in Rogoredo

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

The Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan is set to establish a new campus in Rogoredo, which will replace the 'boschetto della droga.' This €50 million initiative is backed by funding from the Ministry of Infrastructure (€20 million), the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility (€20 million), and the Lombardy Region (€10 million). The project encompasses the renovation of the Palazzina ex Chimici alongside new construction, designed by Professor Emilio Faroldi from Politecnico di Milano. Facilities will include a 400-seat auditorium, recording studios, and laboratories for pop, rock, jazz, electronic music, and sound design. A dormitory for students will help alleviate space issues. The target completion is set for the 2024-25 academic year, featuring a public park and areas for youth groups, situated near Sky's headquarters and the Santa Giulia Olympic venue.
