New Candys to Release 'The Uncanny Extravaganza' and Tour Mexico

publication · 2026-05-06

Italian band New Candys, formed in Venice in 2008 by Fernando Nuti and Dario Lucchesi, will release their fifth album 'The Uncanny Extravaganza' in 2025. The album marks a shift toward a more electronic sound, produced by Maurizio Baggio, known for work with Soft Moon and Boy Harsher. The current lineup includes Emanuele Zanardo on guitar and Francesco Sicchieri on drums. The band will perform in Mexico: at Foro Independencia in Guadalajara on May 28, at Cervecería Hércules in Querétaro on May 29, and at Bajo Circuito in Mexico City on May 30, presented by Acid Moon with Jaus as support. Nuti, who also played with Mexican band Lorelle Meets The Obsolete for nine years, describes the new album as 'dark, modern, and rock and roll.' The album's artwork features a mermaid and water as symbolic elements, referencing Venice. Tracks range from introspective 'Breathe Me In' to furious 'Regicide,' nostalgic 'Final Mission,' and ecstatic 'Night Surfer,' with influences from Nicolas Winding Refn films and Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns. The band's earlier albums include 'Stars Reach the Abyss' (2012), 'New Candys As Medicine' (2015) on Fuzz Records, 'Bleeding Magenta' (2017), and 'Vyvyd' (2021).
