New book explores Gae Aulenti's stage designs

The recently released book 'Gae Aulenti. Lo spazio scenico', published by Scheiwiller, delves into the stage design contributions of Italian architect Gae Aulenti. Edited by Nina Artioli, Davide Petullà, and Alessandra Coppa, it explores 26 of Aulenti's stage sets from 1974 to 2011, utilizing materials from her Milan archive and Teatro alla Scala. Aulenti's scenographic journey began in 1974 with Domenico Cimarosa's 'Le astuzie femminili' and included a significant collaboration with director Luca Ronconi for nearly 20 years. Their work featured productions like 'La Torre' (1978) at the Fabbricone in Prato and 'Il Viaggio a Reims', which extended the stage into Pesaro, Milan, Ferrara, and Bologna. The book includes contributions from several authors and highlights Aulenti's distinctive design elements. This release coincides with a major exhibition at Triennale Milano, ongoing until January 12.
