New book explores future of Naples' Mostra d'Oltremare
At Palazzo Gravina in Naples, the book 'Mostra d'Oltremare nella Napoli occidentale. Ricerche storiche e restauro del moderno', edited by Aldo Aveta, Alessandro Castagnaro, and Fabio Mangone, was unveiled. Published by FedOA Press and Editori Paparo, it features insights from around 45 contributors, primarily affiliated with the University of Naples Federico II. This volume delves into the history and restoration of the Mostra d'Oltremare, a fairground constructed from 1938 to 1940 under the design of Marcello Canino. Initially inaugurated in May 1940, it was closed due to WWII and reopened in 1952. The aim of the book is to establish a scientific foundation for restoration efforts. Matteo Lorito and Gaetano Manfredi spoke about future prospects and historical significance.
