publication · 2026-04-27

A new publication titled "Da una prospettiva eccedente. In dialogo con Antonio Capuano" (Artdigiland, 2022) offers an in-depth conversation with Neapolitan filmmaker Antonio Capuano, who gained renewed attention after being portrayed in Paolo Sorrentino's "È stata la mano di Dio" (2021). The book, edited by Armando Andria, Alessia Brandoni, and Fabrizio Croce, features a preface by Christian Raimo and includes three critical essays. Capuano, known for films like "Vito e gli altri" (1991), "Pianese Nunzio, 14 anni a maggio", "Luna rossa", and "La guerra di Mari", is described by Raimo as having created "one of the most beautiful things to happen to Italian art in the last thirty years." Despite a late debut at age 51, Capuano's cinema is praised for its adult perspective and ability to portray humans as free and responsible. In the book, Capuano discusses his creative process, describing how a film dictates its own needs during editing. The volume also explores his relationship with Naples, cinema, painting, and theater.
